IAFR Canada was established in 2017 for the purpose of helping people survive and recover from forced displacement. It began as a partnership with The Peoples Church in Toronto, and in relationship with the already- established IAFR in the United States.
The organization began after a group of Christians in Canada recognized both the incredible needs of globally displaced people, as well as the remarkable potential of the global church to be communities of belonging and support in every place where displacement was a reality for people.
IAFR has built partnerships with dynamic refugee-serving churches and organizations in Canada and in global hubs where refugees are being welcomed and supported. We are committed to working with churches along the refugee highway to support them in coming alongside displaced people.
In the Canadian context, IAFR works to educate, connect and inspire churches to discover their role in refugee support, as well as to connect Canadian churches with excellent global partners who serve refugees in some of the most challenging places in the world.
